This program provides mentoring for STEM students, researchers, innovators, and professionals in disadvantaged and underrepresented communities.
It aims to support high skilled talents in science and create opportunities in STEM careers for minorities communities.
By sharing ideas, getting feedback, building expertise, providing coaching, enhancing networks we hope to create opportunities of professional and personal growth.
DS CARES - Dimensions Sciences Campaigns for Awareness of Science - interviewed Marcia Fournier with the following question: How does society benefit from diversity in science? Marcia answers with a sports analogy that helps to understand how diversity of culture, gender, race, age, disability, can bring value to science. Since Marcia recorded this video two vaccines for COVID-19 were approved in the US. These vaccines use an innovative technology based on RNA. Cheers to diversity in science!
Mentors and mentees work together to create a diverse workforce in STEM careers and foster economic growth for minority communities in STEM.
It provides opportunity for matching participants with mentors in relevant areas key for personal and professional development.
Different from coaching in that the mentor has specific experience in the field and can offer expert advice based on their own experiences.
Nurture professional and personal growth. Coachee sets their goals and the coach asks questions to help them figure out how to get there.
We use an action model: at the end of the session the coachee identifies the actions they will take. A coach does not have to have expertise in the coachee's field, only expertise in coaching. The coach does not offer advice.
